WHAT IS PILATES?

Pilates is like an MOT for your body and mind. It is a low impact form of exercise that focuses on aligning, strengthening and stabilising the core muscles whilst improving flexibility and overall well-being. 

The benefits are endless but include improved posture, increased muscle tone, better flexibility, coordination and an increased body awareness.

Pilates uses slow, controlled and precise movements to strengthen the deep stabilising muscles which help support our skeletal system, in particular our spine. When our muscles aren’t engaging properly it leaves our bodies vulnerable to injury. 

Pilates is a great complementary form of exercise to other more rigorous activities as it promotes balanced muscle development. Imbalances in the body may occur for many reasons; genetics, sports, bad habits and Pilates works to correct these through incorporating unilateral exercises (training one side at a time). 

Whether you are new to fitness, recovering from injury or a pro athlete Pilates has something to offer everybody!

PRIVATE PILATES SESSIONS

Private sessions are a great way to tailor a workout to your needs and focus on your specific goals. If you are a complete beginner it is a great way to build confidence and grasp the basics quickly. Kirsten is based in Surrey and can come to your home, garden or workplace.

GROUP PILATES SESSIONS

The mixed level group Pilates classes are suitable for all. Classes are small so attention can be paid and adaptions provided to accommodate everyone's needs.
